Geoff Marietta is the Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the University of the Cumberlands and Founder of Invest 606, a business accelerator and pitch contest for Eastern Kentucky in partnership with the University of the Cumberlands, Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky, and the James Graham Brown Foundation. Geoff is also the Owner of Trillium Ventures, a community development real estate company that invests and restores historic main street buildings in the region. He has a BS from the University of Montana, MBA from Harvard Business School, and PhD from Harvard Graduate School of Education. He currently lives in Williamsburg, Kentucky with his wife, Sky, and their sons, Harlan and Perry.
emi is the Chief Technology Officer at Mountain Tech Media. She joined the team in 2016, developed the company's videography services, and is passionate about expanding Eastern Kentucky's creative economy and mentoring emergent New Media creatives. emi grew up in Berea, Kentucky, and graduated from the University of Georgia. She holds a Congressional Award for Service, served on the Steering Committees regional organizing initiatives including the STAY Project and Kentucky Rural-Urban Exchange, and received a Brushy Fork Promise Zone Emerging Leaders Scholarship in 2016.
Appalshop is a media, arts & education institution that's celebrated the culture & voiced the concerns of Appalachians & rural America since 1969. In addition to producing a number of award-winning documentaries, Appalshop developed WMMT-FM radio, the Appalachian Media Institute, and an archive that holds the largest single body of creative work on Appalachia in the world. Appalshop is based in Whitesburg, Kentucky, and is a founder and co-owner of Mountain Tech Media.
